About me
R. A. Grimes was born and raised in Baltimore and the surrounding Counties. As a child, she adored reading books as much as she did playing with dolls and riding her bike. Writing short stories, poems, and music became her pastime from secondary school through College. She is a mother to three phenomenal young adults who constantly inspire her future endeavors. When she’s not walking or spending time with her beautiful, witty, and energetic granddaughter, she usually finds refuge in her writing.
R. A. Grimes treasures the love, memories, and wisdom her parents, Jessie and Leroy, left behind. She especially enjoys the literature of Nikki Giovanni, James Henry Thoreau, Langston Hughes, Zora Neale Hurston, Ernest J. Gaines, and many other gifted writers, past and present, whom she admires. Presently, she attributes life to be her greatest motivator. She dares to dream, imagine, and fantasize, encouraging that freedom in others.
